Solange Suggests ‘Build Your Own Institutions’ After Beyonce’s ‘Lemonade’ Album of the Year Grammy Snub

After big sister Beyoncé did not receive the win the catagory that was hopped for for Grammy Awards, Solange tweeted a strong suggestion on how to guarantee more awards and wins.

“Create your own committees, build your own institutions, give your friends awards, award yourself, and be the gold you wanna hold, my Gs,” she wrote.  She also posted the tweet:

“there have only been two black winners in the last 20 years for album of the year there have been over 200 black artist who have performed”

The tweet has since been deleted and people have corrected the singer as four black artist have won album of the year in the last 20 years. Solange and Beyoncé both took home some Grammy awards — best urban contemporary album & Best Music Video for Bey and best R&B performance for Solange (“Cranes in the Sky”).

Adele, who won the album of the year award for 25, stated in her acceptance speech that Beyoncé deserved to win just as much as she did, saying, “But my artist of my life is Beyoncé and this album, for me, the Lemonade album, was just so monumental.”
